Hipanema

What happens when two gorgeous blonde Parisians meet in Rio de Janeiro? A fashionable friendship is formed, naturally! When Jenny and Delphine’s wanderlust whisked them away to the vibrant and energy-filled city of Rio, they forged a new friendship and the burning desire to bring Brazilian beauty to the masses.

While traversing the stunning city of Rio, Delphine and Jenny were inspired by the bold hues and hand-woven friendship bracelets omnipresent in Brazil. These bracelets — typically made of thread and given to a friend as a token of friendship — bear a bohemian vibe with an ethnic beat and are worn 24/7. And if you were a child of the ‘80s, you’ll recall macramé friendship bracelets being all the rage. School children would obsessively make them for one another in a dizzying variety of colours, widths and patterns.

“I love wearing lots of Brazilian bracelets but having to tie and untie them one by one till they break became a bore,” Delphine says. “After a couple of years it becomes difficult to keep wearing the old discolored ties and it’s not easy to match them with one’s wardrobe,” Jenny chimes in.

And so Hipanema bracelets were born. Think layered friendship bracelets with the simple click of a magnetized clasp. Comprised of rainbow-hued thread, Jenny and Delphine’s accessories are replete with pearls, seashells, quartz stones and more.

When it comes to wearing Hipanema bracelets — one can stack two or three beautifully intricate bracelets together for a major dose of glam. Each bracelet is named after an exotic travel spot such as Saint Tropez, Cannes, Mexico, Cuzco and  more. And like most arm parties, more is more!
