We are excited to bring back our SO Vacation Series this year for another dose of summer style and travel inspiration. For our first edition, we spoke to La Prestic Ouiston founder and designer Laurence Mahéo about how she splits her time between Brittany and Paris in France and Agadir in Morocco as well as her travel style tips and must-visit recommendations.

How does travel influence the La Prestic Ouiston brand?

I live on the Atlantic coast between my house by the sea in Brittany France,  Agadir Morocco (Atlantic coast!) and Paris where I am lucky enough to have a wonderful garden.

Basically, I need nature, space and time, travelling offers me the distance and necessary change for inspiration. This is why I live in these three places, three hours away by plane or train from each other.

How will you be spending your summer vacation?

Like the rest of the year, between my three places of life.
With a real break throughout the month of July in South Brittany (Gulf of Morbihan),   followed by a turquoise weather in August in Ibiza at my brother’s place @officinegeneral @pierre.maheo. It’s a beautiful mix of sea & countryside there.

What does an ideal vacation day look like for you?

Simple pleasures that make everything.
Wake up early to the singing of birds, take the time for several coffees, barefoot in the sand looking at the sea, then go rowing on my little orange boat.
Cook for the people I love, sunbathe, be gardening in the evening, go out for a drink at the market square after a long swim, have dinner, laugh, and NEVER forget to dance.

What are your favourite ways to style La Prestic Ouiston when travelling?

I often wear pieces from LPO early days that are rather structured, and that you will rediscover soon with pleasure I hope... safari jackets, hunting jackets, army shirts that I mix with the silk pieces of the season and my lifetime pieces collected since I was 15: sometimes couture, sometimes denim or US vintage… they are the same since my teenage years… I am very faithful.
I always travel with one of my straw bags made by my Moroccan workshop or with my old burgundy Kelly that I love.
I never leave without several pairs of my beloved flats: Rondini St Tropez.
Nor without my Breton clogs.

Your must-visit places to eat, drink, shop and explore in Paris?

I live in Paris in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and rarely go out because I travel a lot.
I can be quite obsessional and always very faithful…. You will see me at Le café Fleurus, at La Brasserie du Lutetia seafood bar, at Le Bar des Prés rue du Dragon which is next to LPO’s boutique, at Le Voltaire on “les quais de Seine”, next to my office rue de Verneuil...  so many wonderful places...  stopping for a drink in the evening in the calm and sunset of the Montalembert Hotel is a must or a little further up at Le Babylone opposite Le Bon Marché and its adorable square.

We would love to know more about the Brittany region. What is your connection to the area and what would you recommend to people visiting?

Of course !... Brittany is totally magical.
I am Breton, it is my intimacy, my family, my roots, my home.
It’s the place where I write my books and am in love…
You can sleep at l’Île aux Moines at the San Francisco hotel, go up to Carnac, La Trinité-sur-Mer and Quiberon where you will not miss dinner at Le Chantier and L’Escale..
Then, a little further north, my favorite hotel and restaurant: the Ti Al Lannec in Trebeurden… a gem, a joy.

And finally, where are the destinations on your travel wishlist?

Japan...  my son & I totally dream about it every year without being able to schedule it... same for Australia where I will come to see you one day, I promise!
